AAA-Fund Blog Appoints Editors-in-Chief

Cutting-Edge Blog To Offer Advertising Opportunities

Washington, DC — The Asian American Action Fund has appointed two talented Editors-in-Chief to oversee its cutting-edge Blog: Caroline Fan and Justin Gillenwater. The AAA-Fund also announced that its Blog can now host high-quality advertisements. All proceeds will support AAA-Fund's core mission of empowering the diverse Asian American community.

"During this exciting election year, our innovative Blog has given a much needed voice to Asian Americans across the nation. With Caroline and Justin at the helm, our Blog will enable more Asian Americans to become movers and shakers in progressive politics," said AAA-Fund Executive Director Gautam Dutta, who will continue to serve as the Blog's Executive Editor.

Ms. Fan directs online outreach for Massey Media and has media experience at a number of labor unions, including AFL-CIO, SEIU, and the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance. A graduate of Williams College, she holds a Masters in Public Administration from Baruch College through National Urban Fellows, a national leadership program. Mr. Gillenwater is currently a law student at George Washington University in Washington DC. As an undergraduate at the University of Texas, he spearheaded a voter-registration drive at an Asian American church. Both Editors-in-Chief are regular contributors to the Blog.

Since it was launched last October, the Blog has shot to national prominence with its quality and originality. To date, the Blog has published submissions from over 20 regular contributors and 20 guest bloggers. On average, readers spend nine minutes on the Blog — a remarkable number for the blogosphere.

The Blog has provided progressive Asian Americans with a much-needed forum to express their political opinions, especially since those views often go unreported in the mainstream media. Recent Blog pieces have featured spirited debate over Presidential contenders Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton, as well as exclusive interviews with top Asian American leaders. In addition, the Blog has posted video clips of AAA-Fund's recent Los Angeles Presidential Roundtable — which featured commentary by 1988 Presidential Nominee Gov. Michael Dukakis and California Board of Equalization Chair Judy Chu.

The AAA-Fund is a national Democratic political organization whose goal is to increase the voice of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in local, state and federal government, by encouraging AAPIs to volunteer on campaigns, raise money for candidates, and run for political office.
